Three Adoption Plans to Choose From
Not only do you have the opportunity to select the adoptive couple, but you can also choose how open you want the adoption to be. There are three different adoption plans. Your choice is determined by how much contact you wish to have with the family and your child.
Open Adoption
When you choose an open adoption, you and the adoptive family agree to share identifying information. You may exchange full names, addresses, or phone numbers. You agree to the amount and type of contact you wish to have with one another.
Closed Adoption
Only about 10% of adoptions are closed today. You might choose this option for security reasons, or you feel you would have a better chance of moving on with your life. With a closed adoption, the courts seal the original birth certificate and all adoption information. You have no further contact with your child or their adoptive family.
Semi-Open Adoption
Most adoptions today begin as semi-open. With this plan, you have contact with your child and their adoptive family, but all communication goes through Antioch Adoptions. A semi-open plan gives everyone some anonymity until you feel comfortable sharing more information.
